The Right Decoy For The Your Hunt Makes All The Difference

it is a tradition in our family to go turkey hunting in the weeks leading up to thanksgiving.  then, after we have thanksgiving dinner together, instead of heading to the living room and sleeping on the sofa we head back out for another hunt.

one thing i have noticed on our hands is that the right decoy really does make a difference in your hunt.  i have used all sorts of decoys—from cheaply-made duck decoys that barely floated on the pond to overly-expensive turkey decoys that did look like the real thing but cost far too much—and i can tell you that a quality decoy (not necessarily an expensive one) does change the outcome of your hunt.

a good decoy will make the birds feel like an area is safe and they will come into your hunting area much more easily.  you will not have to spend as much time working on your calls—although it certainly does help to send out believable calls in conjunction with your decoy—and you will usually bring home a greater number of birds than you would without using the decoy.
